The Beast is back. And better than ever.
In the early 2000s, DD’s 9900 series was called The Beast. After a long hiatus, The Beast is back and better than ever. The latest version is designed to meet the ultra-low frequency demands of modern music. The drivers in this series can be driven for long periods of time at very high power and with long travel distances. The driver is optimized for playing at 1500-2500 watts and can withstand short-term power of up to 10,000 watts.
Looking at the driver’s motor, you can see where the name The Beast comes from. The magnet is over three inches high and ten inches wide. The precisely machined magnet structure houses a 4″ voice coil. The mechanical travel is over three inches and even at its extremes, the voice coil is far enough inside the magnet to maintain control of the driver.
This driver uses the ESP (Evolution Subwoofer Performance) design, which includes, among other things, larger diameter lower suspensions, a chassis with the required depth for the trajectory, and a top suspension and cone structure that differ from normal model series. ESP drivers are built to achieve maximum performance in their size class.
